There's a lot of money out there, and I've been tasked with trying to find some for TakingITGlobal.

We want to keep as much stuff as free as possible for our wonderful community, but in order to do so, we need find a source of funding. One possibility are grants - whether through the government or private foundations. Another possibility is corporate sponsorship - where a company pays TIG money for some form of recognition.

As in my other posts and discussion threads, there are some types of companies that TIG will NEVER take money from - but now I want to know what is a "good" company to receive money from?

Corporate Social Responsibility is a buzz word in many industries today, so my hope is that TIG can benefit in some shape or form from this groundswell. That said - I've posted the question I asked just now on the discussion boards - please go post your response there (or here).

Since TakingITGlobal has socially conscious members, I want to give you the opportunity to voice your opinions. I'll be setting up a number of polls on the discussion boards that allow you to "vote" on which corporate sponsors TIG should partner up with. Some corporations are socially responsible; others aren't.

Until then - I've asked the question: who should we NOT work with? What companies must TIG stay away from?

Hi all,

I'm TakingITGlobal's new Development and Communications Manager, and I want to use this space to stay in touch with you - our vibrant members!

One of my roles at TIG is fundraising - finding the resources for our great staff to keep delivering the online community to you. This isn't something that can be done by one person however, so I'm relying on you to help me!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posing several questions (both on this blog and in the discussion boards) on sponsorship, corporate social responsibility and fundraising - I'd like you to answer them and give your input.

The other main responsibility that I have is communications - which relates to all media relations and external communications. I also have some exciting ideas I'd like to share soon - so keep your eyes peeled.
